SHARON ANGEL VIES FOR MUTYA NG PILIPINAS 2010
    by ARIEL ALLERA

One of Cebu’s billboard belles and runway divas gracefully stays tuned to her surname by being such an angel’s breath of fresh air everywhere she comes.

Whether wearing her prescribed uniform daily to the University of San Carlos as a Tourism Management major, or donning a Dexter Alazas at the Philippine Fashion Week, Sharon Grace Angel brings around an aura that softens any hard moment, courtesy of her peaceful presence and tales worth telling.

She begins, “I never run out of stories to share, be it from my personal experiences or those I’ve heard from my ever supportive grandma during dinner.”

The 19-year-old sought-after model and multi-titled beauty queen paid a quick visit to Cebu for a good four days off from her three-week pre-pageant activities to the 2010 Mutya Ng Pilipinas Search on August 28 at Resorts World Manila (to be telecast later on September 5 via ABS-CBN).

Sharon shares, “I’m very honored to be one of Region 7′s candidates to this prestigious national beauty pageant. I’m representing Lapu-Lapu City, and I’m hoping to come home with any of the three titles at stake.”

This year, three all-important crowns will be worn by top three winning contestants, each of whom will represent the Philippines to such global beauty quests as Miss Asia Pacific-International, Miss Intercontinental, and Miss Tourism Queen International.

An outstanding five-feet-nine height and a voluptuous 34-25-37 frame are just two of Sharon Angel’s edge over her 23 fellow contenders from the different cities and provinces in the country, not to mention the delegates representing various Filipino communities overseas.

“The pressure is there, but I’d like to have fun with my new friends and enjoy their company although, realistically speaking, every one of us is vying to become Mutya Ng Pilipinas. I know that the competition started from the day we arrived in Manila; but it will only paralyze me if I dread at the thought of our daily pressures,” Sharon admits sincerely, while promising to do her best and to give her all, by hook or by crook.

Sharon is one of Dexter Alazas’s precious angels, along with other A.D. Models Philippines members. Her recent feat was placing third runner-up in the Search for Miss Mandaue 2010 last May. In March, she represented Central Visayas to Mr. and Miss University-Philippines, an inter-varsity competition participated in by different universities in the country, each bringing the name of his and her region. She was awarded third runner-up at the University of the Philippines Theater in Diliman, Quezon City.

In 2009, Sharon won as Miss CESAFI (Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc.) Collegiate Division being the muse of The Warriors, the University of San Carlos basketball team; four years prior, she was also chosen as Miss CESAFI Secondary Division carrying the banner of University of San Jose-Recoletos. That same year, 2005, saw Sharon claiming her first title, Miss MILO Olympics, followed by Miss CVRAA (Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association) where she was adjudged as first runner-up. Then came the regional selection for 2007 Miss Teen Philippines, in which she was one of the three winners who went on to compete at the national level in Manila that put her in the top 10 slot.

More than anything, her high-class catwalk skills, and restrained beauty of style embellished with a precious promise to promote Philippine tourism, are truly what will make Sharon Grace Angel worthy of becoming our country’s next prized gem.
